The Evolution Series is the most efficient locomotive GE has produced to date. If every train on the tracks were powered by an Evolution Series, the annual reduction of smog-producing pollutants would be like taking 48 million cars off the road.
GE Evolution series locomotives are powerful enough to pull 170 Boeing 747 jetliners, but are also more fuel efficient than other North American locomotives. But these powerhouses aren’t just cool; we think they look pretty cool, too. We commissioned designer Matthew Hawkins to make a papercraft version. Now with a few cuts and some folds, we can all put this badass machine right on our desks.
Five cranes, each wider than a football field, move shipping containers between railroad tracks, a truck lane and storage stacks at the CSX Northwest Ohio Intermodal Terminal. The million-pound cranes operate day and night, here with the early morning sun casting a glow over the facility.
